GREETING
Department of Electronic Engineering (EE) : The Cradle of Future Leaders in Convergence Electronics for the AI Era
Established in 2010 as Korea’s first IT Convergence program, the Department of Electronic Engineering (EE Department) at Hanyang University has continuously evolved to educate talented students who will lead the nation’s information technology industries. As one of Hanyang University’s Diamond Programs, the department provides outstanding students with various scholarships and support programs through partnerships with leading domestic and global companies. These include tuition support for excellent freshmen, scholarships through industry-academia programs for outstanding students, and full scholarship opportunities for students who continue into the integrated M.S.-Ph.D. program at Hanyang University.
Our EE Department pursues the education of “Digital i-Engineers” through an innovative educational system that emphasizes creativity, practical knowledge, and independent problem-solving capabilities. Students develop a strong foundation in mathematics and basic sciences, together with expertise in electronics, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, software, communications, and other emerging technologies. More importantly, they are encouraged to integrate knowledge across disciplines to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems. In particular, as artificial intelligence is transforming industries and society, we aim to educate not only students who can effectively utilize AI, but also future engineers who can combine AI with electronics engineering to create new technologies, industries, and value.
Building on the outstanding capabilities of our faculty and research infrastructure, the department has established itself as one of Korea’s leading research-oriented academic programs through major national education and research initiatives, including the BK21 and BK21 FOUR programs. Our faculty have achieved outstanding results in areas including technology transfer, SCI-indexed publications, and patents, while strong industry-academia collaboration has enabled us to translate cutting-edge research into real-world technologies. Looking ahead, we will further strengthen education and research in emerging fields such as AI semiconductors, next-generation memory, high-performance and energy-efficient computing, intelligent sensors and communications, robotics, and Physical AI. Through these efforts, we aspire to become a global hub for education and research at the intersection of AI and advanced electronics engineering.
Our students have also demonstrated outstanding achievements in national examinations, research, entrepreneurship, and a wide range of professional fields, further enhancing the reputation of the department. We will continue to innovate our educational approach so that students can build a solid foundation in engineering while using AI as a powerful tool for learning and research. We seek to empower our students to define problems independently, develop creative solutions, and ultimately create new technologies and value. Through this approach, we will help each student grow into a future technology leader capable of making an impact not only in Korea but also on the global stage.
We hope that this website will provide prospective students and their families with a comprehensive understanding of our educational programs, research activities, career opportunities, and the achievements of our graduates. More importantly, we hope it will help visitors understand why the Department of Electronic Engineering is well positioned to lead the future of advanced technology and serve as a bridge connecting our department with students, industry, and society.
Not a department that simply follows technological change, but one that creates the technologies of tomorrow.
The Department of Electronic Engineering at Hanyang University will continue to shape the future and lead the AI era.
Thank you.
