Electromagnetics and Intelligent Design Lab
My research program revolves around the theme of designing best-in-class electromagnetic devices for IT (AR/VR, antennas, metasurface, imaging), energy (photovoltaics, thermophotovoltaics), and other applications (biosensors, military) through the development of an automated- design algorithm. My automated design algorithm (i.e., inverse design) is a large-scale computational design technique that offers an optimization of all geometrical degrees of freedom, which enables users to discover a revolutionary design of the electromagnetic devices. These electromagnetic devices demonstrate state-of-the-art performance in various applications with freeform designs beyond human intuition.
